Submerged in Suburbia
Life in suburbia is moving along boringly for 12-year-old D.J. Waters. His middle-class parents support his budding soccer career, yet D.J. continues to defy his mother and test authoritative figures for no clear reason. Then D.J. meets the impoverished Barry Snyder, whose family is financially devastated by the increasing medical costs of his ailing mother.
D.J. befriends Barry, as they form an inseparable bond that is continuously tested from elementary school to high school. Whether it’s puberty, love, peer pressure, alcohol, drugs or more, D.J. is forced to mature quickly. And one final climactic event is sure to change the lives of D.J. and his friends forever.
